It's Sunday. My off day. A day to relax. But i'm not willing to let the day go by just sitting at home.
I took my mom for a brunch. We went to the famous meat ball porridge with raw fish at Petaling Street. It used to be very nice. But when i tried it today, the taste wasn't the same. Although the portion of the raw fish they served were larger but it may be because the porridge they served wasn't hot enough (used to be steamy hot) and too soggy, it didn't turn out as tasty as before, so we decided to not go back ever again. It used to be RM8.00 per person for a bowl of meatball porridge with a plate of raw fish, now it's RM10.00. So, RM20.00 for 2 person to eat at a roadside stall, without drinks. It's only worth it if it's delicious ....
After breakfast, we proceeded to Low Yat Plaza behind Sg. Wang. It is a good place to look for cheap computers parts, cameras, handphones, etc... The place we went when we arrived was to 'Old Town Kopitiam' for a cup of hot steamy coffee. Mom ordered NanYang Memorable Hot coffee (RM3.20) and I ordered 'cham" coffee mix tea (RM2.80) and each a plate of garlic bread (RM3.20 each). We enjoyed our sip before we started conquering the shops one by one...
I have 5 brothers and 4 sisters, but all of them are having their own family and some are in Singapore. For some of them, Sunday mornings are strictly for church, afternoon is lunch time with family and evening is time to rest. Cant blame everyone because they onlyhave one day that really belonged to themselves, other days are 'sold' to the company. Hehe, no offence ya bro and sis, that is my interpretation of a busy person.
One of the brothers and me stay near my mom, so 2 of us including my eldest brother visit my mom more often, they are there every Sunday night.
Those staying in Singapore can only visit mom once in a while. And when they're back, my mom will be happy to prepare the most delicious food for all of us. That is almost a must for her, as long as she knows that any of my brother or sister coming back. She will cook the first meal for all even if we told her not to, she will still insist on that. We must eat at her house before proceeding anywhere else. The problem usually was, after the meal, we feel lazy and sleepy and will most likely rest at home. Especially my brother-in-law, he will not go anywhere else till the next day.
There was once, we kept a secret about my sister coming home, but somehow my mom found out about that. Then as expected, she prepared a BIG meal for all of us. We were laughing and pointing fingers at each other for leaking out the secret.

There is something about a mothers cooking that always tastes the best. :o)
Yes Tammy, my mom's cooking is still as good as before, but I am a lousy cook!
Somehow, it's in the mother's genes to want to cook a splendid meal for her children. My mum is like that too.
Kess' mama.
Ya you are right, kess.
I didn't know they were still in Petaling Street. I haven't tried their porridge out for years now.
i like this words... "Other days are sold to the company". I really agreed about that. Now more people are having this kind of life. But how busy also, we should not forget about our parent..

Your Mom is blessed, but her life when younger must be tough ah.... taking care of so many children. :)
ECL - That's why a young age I started to cook and do house work, too many things to do, and the boys, hey, just know how to enjoy life..
Mom's always wish to give the best, even they do not get it for themself! I would hunger myself but not my children :)
