Good Things Are For Sharing

.
Wonder what fruit is that? I am not sure what is that either..

.
I was having gastric pain a year ago and my mom gave me 1/3 piece of that stick and asked me to chop it into pieces with skin and boil it with water. Either with or without meat for 1 hour and drink it. I asked her whether she had tried it or anyone she knew had tried it, she said, NO. It was given to to her by my uncle. According to him that can cure/help stop gastric pain. My uncle had passed away, so I am not able to check out with him.
.

.
.
I took it back and was wondering whether to try it. I am not the kiasu type but kiasi.
.
After another day of torture by the gastric pain, I decided to be a guinea pig and gave it a try. I realy have no other choices.
.
After the drink I forgot all about my gastric pain, it was gone totally! How amazing, I was thinking.
.
Recently, at the garden near a friend's house, I saw something familiar. Something looks exactly like the one I have taken. I took one green one back and waited until it turned dark and compared it with the one my mom have, inside, outside, top, bottom, they looked exactly the same. I was quite sure that I found it, but where to find someone to try leh?
.

.
Above is the picture of the tree. (Click to enlarge).
.
Recently I found another 'guinea pig', that is my friend's maid and now she is another testimony.
.
My friend's maid who came to work for me part time was having very bad gastric pain. She looked so pale and sick. By the look of her I thought my friend have starved her. She told me she couldn't eat well and have been suffering bad gastric pain for a long time.
.
I gave her a stick taken from the garden and asked her if she dare try it. She said at her house in Indonesia have many of these trees around but no one knew anything of it.
.
Two days later when she came back to my place, she looked radiant, really. She said she tried and now gastric pain is gone too!
.
Look at the picture, and how happy she looks.
.
If any of you have any information about what is that, the name, the medicinal value of the fruit, how to consume it, may be you would like to share it.

Mom, You Make Us Feel Special

It's Sunday. My off day. A day to relax. But i'm not willing to let the day go by just sitting at home.

I took my mom for a brunch. We went to the famous meat ball porridge with raw fish at Petaling Street. It used to be very nice. But when i tried it today, the taste wasn't the same. Although the portion of the raw fish they served were larger but it may be because the porridge they served wasn't hot enough (used to be steamy hot) and too soggy, it didn't turn out as tasty as before, so we decided to not go back ever again. It used to be RM8.00 per person for a bowl of meatball porridge with a plate of raw fish, now it's RM10.00. So, RM20.00 for 2 person to eat at a roadside stall, without drinks. It's only worth it if it's delicious ....

After breakfast, we proceeded to Low Yat Plaza behind Sg. Wang. It is a good place to look for cheap computers parts, cameras, handphones, etc... The place we went when we arrived was to 'Old Town Kopitiam' for a cup of hot steamy coffee. Mom ordered NanYang Memorable Hot coffee (RM3.20) and I ordered 'cham" coffee mix tea (RM2.80) and each a plate of garlic bread (RM3.20 each). We enjoyed our sip before we started conquering the shops one by one...

I have 5 brothers and 4 sisters, but all of them are having their own family and some are in Singapore. For some of them, Sunday mornings are strictly for church, afternoon is lunch time with family and evening is time to rest. Cant blame everyone because they onlyhave one day that really belonged to themselves, other days are 'sold' to the company. Hehe, no offence ya bro and sis, that is my interpretation of a busy person.

One of the brothers and me stay near my mom, so 2 of us including my eldest brother visit my mom more often, they are there every Sunday night.

Those staying in Singapore can only visit mom once in a while. And when they're back, my mom will be happy to prepare the most delicious food for all of us. That is almost a must for her, as long as she knows that any of my brother or sister coming back. She will cook the first meal for all even if we told her not to, she will still insist on that. We must eat at her house before proceeding anywhere else. The problem usually was, after the meal, we feel lazy and sleepy and will most likely rest at home. Especially my brother-in-law, he will not go anywhere else till the next day.

There was once, we kept a secret about my sister coming home, but somehow my mom found out about that. Then as expected, she prepared a BIG meal for all of us. We were laughing and pointing fingers at each other for leaking out the secret.

Never Under Estimate The Power Of Accountant

Would like to share the following jokes received via email :

"""
Joke 1:

Eleven people were dangling below a helicopter on a rope. There were 10 sales people and 1 accountant.

Since the rope was not strong enough to hold them all, they decided that one of them had to let go and save all the others.
.
They could not decide who should be the volunteer. Finally the accountant said he would let go of the rope since accountants are used to do everything for the company. They forsake their family, don't claim all of their expenses and do a lot of overtime without getting anything in return. When finished his moving speech all the sales people began to clap.
.

Joke 2 :
.

A group of accountants and a group of sales people take a train to a conference. All sales person holds a ticket. But the entire group of accountants has bought only 1 single ticket. The sales people are just shaking their heads and are secretly pleased that the arrogant and mean accountant will finally get what they deserved.
.
Suddenly one of the accountant calls out : "The conductor is coming!" At once, all the accountant jump up and squeezed into one of the toilet. The conductor check the ticket of the sales people. When he notice that the toilet is occupied, he knocks and say : "Ticket, please!" One of the accountants slide the ticket under the door and the conductor continues on his round.
.
For the return trip the sales people decided to use the same trick. They buy only 1 ticket for the entire group, but they are baffled as they realised that the accountants didn't buy any ticket all. After a while one of the accountant announce again : "The conductor is coming!". Immediately all the sales people race to the toilet and lock themselves in.
.
All the accountant leisurely walk to the other toilet. Before the last accountant enters the toilet he knocks on the toilet occupied by the sales people and said : "Ticket please!"
.
*****Sales people like to use the method of the accountants, but they dont really understand them *******

Actions and Results

This week has been a pretty busy week for me.

I am working for 3 different companies. Unlike some of the lucky one out there, who only does one job and get sky high pay.

I cannot go without working, not because I am a workaholic, but that is because if I don't work, I will sink, sink, sink to the bottom. So to keep afloat, I have to work.

I think most people are doing more than one job. Lets say you are a wife & mother (1st job), cook and do house chores (2nd job), maintain a job outside (3rd job). See that?

If I were to count like that then I am doing 5 jobs. Am I in the capable group? No, I am in the work hard group, not the work smart group.

Oops! No need to guess, I am not going to tell what I do because that is really not important.

This week I have to get all the things done for one of the job, consider the main one. That is the job I just got increment before and after the petrol increased, celebration!

The others jobs, no matter how I asked and kicked them, they still don't budge. The pay just stop at that level. I think is high time I send an email to the Department GM to make sure my request has submitted to him by his manager. I am not sure which party is going to say : take it or leave it!

My Dog Has More Friends Than Me

It has been quite some time since I last put up a post a here. That was because I had been busy reading your blogs (including those who post a comment for me to trace back). See I have been wondering about at your blogs, as an invisible, silent reader, can you see me? Go check your visitors list, definitely you can catch me there reading without permission. What am I talking about! You are there to share Right? No need permission right? The more the merrier right? I always think like that, that's why I always enter like a snobbish VVIP, come and go without even saying "Hello".

Went for a wedding dinner last night. I was seated with my children and the rest were strangers. My friend is the family members, so she and the husband, although requested to be seated with us, has to go and sit at the VIP table.

What to do with those strangers? Food were more important, I thought? But still I cannot be acting snobbish like I acted in your blog as an invisible blog guest, right? So I said 'hi hello!', 'hello!, 'hello!" to all the couples at my table and shake hands to all of them including an overly-friendly cute little girl.

Next time, if I know the arrangement is going to be like that, I will not attend, even if you force me, threaten me, pull or push me or boycott me..... I've got my excuses prepared for the next invitation.

But then friendship is more important, right? Ya, awkwardness is secondary, friendship should come first, so don't worry, whoever you are I will definitely attend your dinner and make friends with the strangers after all they are either your collegues or relatives, right?

I really enjoyed the foods last night. They served the usual Chinese dishes like :

1. Special Hot & Cold Platter
2. Braised Sharks Fin Soup with Crab Roe, Cab Meat & Surimi
3. Roasted Suckling Pig Hong Kong Style
4. Ying Yang Star Garoupa
5. Poached Live Tiger Prawns
6. Braised Dried Oyster with Bean curd Skin & Vegetable
7. Steamed Glutinous Rice Hong Hong Style
8. Chilled Snow Pear with Sea-Coconut
9. Chinese Pastries Two Variety

I had 2 glasses of wine and now only I remembered the foot-reflexologist's advice, no more liquor hah! And I ate 5 big Tiger Prawns which I am not supposed to eat ORSO!

This morning my breakfast was - A glass of warm water with 3 table spoons of Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 tablespoon of Manuka Honey. After an hour, 2 pieces of bread with 1/2 a cup of coffee and an apple. This afternoon, my lunch will be stir fried vegetable with garlic and steam fish with toufu.

Hopefully all the cholesterol piled up last night will be reduced to the minimum.

Overheard In The Computer Room

Few years back, I was trained by I-homemakers to assist in the training for some disadvantage and special women. I accepted the training because I too needed to improve my computer skills. I was paid and get to learn new things, so why not! It was a very interesting and meaningful experience.

We started by giving training to about 15 women.

Below are stories from some of the women. I am not an inquisitive person, so I usually don't ask too much about other's personal life. I should have asked the why, how, when, where ... so that I can tell more about them now. Below are some of the stories I overheard from them talking to each other. I usually squeezed in like busy body when I overheard something interesting like ghost, accident, lier or cheated.....

Anna, she was a police constable, divorced with 2 kids. Resigned from the post due to eye sight problem. She went for cornea transplant and her cornea was taken from a man who had committed suicide. After the transplant, she started seeing things that others don't see, the ghosts.... She used to see many people around when a normal person don't see any one at all, even in her room. The worst thing was sometimes she was not aware whether something that she felt was beside her was human or ghost. She said she is used to the company and although she is scared she has to take it that way...........

Callis, she is wheel chair bound. She was born normal but it happened one day when she was about 10 years old, after having high fever, her legs stop growing. She is not as tall as the normal person now and the leg is not able to support the weight of the body. She can drives and moves around on wheel chair. She has 2 children. She has a handsome husband, who is partially blind. During courtship, she drove the husband around, and he would carry her and she lead the way. A good match, he is handsome and she is pretty........

Betty, she has supernatural power. According to her, that was passed down to her by her grandparent. She would go round helping those who seek her help for a fee. I am not sure the accuracy, never asked about that. According to Anna, she was carrying something evil, something black following her. I dare not go near her, so worry the thing she brought with her would disturb others. Ya, nobody like to take chances right! Who knows ...

Doris, she is wheel chair bound due to an accident when she was about 21 years old. She was driving the car that led to the accident due to speeding. She regretted, but has got back the confident to live and is living happily travelling around. One day we went for a dinner, with the makeup on, wow, she looked sooo pretty......

Parry, her leg was shot during the 'Malaysian Riot', May 13 (what year??). She uses clutches to move around and sometimes uses wheel chair if she finds it difficult to walk far. She is operating a sundry shop with the help of her mother, not married, no children.......

Fanny, she registered herself in the match making agency where she met her ex-husband. They have 3 children. The ex was actually married with 1 child but swear to her that he was not married, and had no brother or sister, or relatives at all. Later she found out that the wive had left him because he was always jobless. She felt cheated and left him. She remarried later and became step mother for another 2 or 3 children not quite sure, she is now the mother and step mother of 6 children .........

That's all I can remember for now! Too sleepy to think....... going to ZZZZZzzzzzz

Good night!

Where's My Million Dollars Ticket?

Just came back from from dinner with a friend of mine. We went to the same restaurant where we had our dinner during Chinese New Year where something strange happened.

We went back to recall the incident. I remembered very well we choose a seat by the side at the corner. As we seated, a man selling lottery tickets came by. My girlfriend and I were thinking, ahha.. may be got luck. So while waiting for food to be served, we choose our million dollars tickets.

I choose 2 tickets with 2 last numbers run consecutively and placed it on the table. I can still remember it was ending with 6 and 7.

It was an air conditioned room but the fan on top of us was on. Suddenly the fan turned to our side and blown one of the ticket away. I saw the ticket flew and dropped down. I told my friend to hold on to my other ticket and I stood up to pick up the other. Strangely, the ticket was no where to be found. We spend almost half an hour searching the whole place, the whole restaurant, even the impossible places like our hand bag, underneath the table and and the other tables with guests. We were trying not because of the RM3.00 but because we didn't believe it could just disappeared into think air.

The Lottery man too didn't believe it because he was helping to find too. There were only 3 other couples in the restaurant and 2 waiters were standing right inside the restaurant, quite a distance away from us.

The Lottery man said may be I took only one ticket. But I knew I took 2, and saw the ticket flew up and dropped down behind my friend where there were nobody there.

At last I paid the Lottery man extra RM3.00. The nice lottery man at first didn't want to accept the RM3.00 because he didn't believe that the ticket could go missing just like that.

Until now I am still trying to figure out where is my million dollars ticket gone to!

Strange, strange, strange!!!!

Are.. you.. there...?

A young man went dating with his girl friend at night on a motorbike. The young man has only one helmet so the girl has to go without the helmet. The girl was wearing white long dress with long hair to her waist. She let go her hair to enjoy the windy ride.

Oh! oh! no! a police uncle stop them at the darker corner of the road, thinking, ha ha, some side income coming easy!

UP (Uncle Police) asked the girl : Why didn't you put on a helmet?

Girl : You..... you.... can.... see... me ....???

UP turn to the man and asked him : Why didn't your girl friend put on a helmet?

Man : Girl..friend..? Is there any one behind me? Where, where is she??

UP : You may go now!

That was how they saved up some money for the petrol that night.

My advice to the young couple : Don't play play with Uncle Police, OK!

Learning To Live Fully Requires A Life Time Experience

Hey, what has happened to me, some one irritated me and I am feeling abnormally quite inside. I am quite surprised. Usually unhappy happening will make me frown and furious for days or months. Anyway who cares if I feel sad or bad or jump down from sky high. Yes, luckily I did not fall into the silly trap. Nanananana, you cannot catch me! You cannot catch me! So childish, what to do, have to cheer myself up.

I think children does contribute a lot toward my reaction about everything. Seeing them growing up a fine person, that put me above everything, nothing else is more important than that. I like them to come near me, or hug me, or tell me about their feelings, that is enough to brighten up my day.

While I was writing this, a long lost friend rang me. She was looking through the telephone list and was wondering whether I still use the same number. We were good neighbours but have drifted apart, just like my other friend had said, we were in a different playing ground.

She is very outspoken, and like me, she always give logical suggestion and direct answers to the question. No beating round the bush. I like that. I remembered I was in the cross road about an issue regarding my personal health. I could not make up a decision and I was going round seeing not only one, but 9 specialists. Nobody could convince me or said something that make me agreed. When this friend came by, she actually woke me up. Hey, I was thinking, such simple thing and why did I make it so complicated? Well, sometimes god will arrange someone to come by just at the right time. Thanks for calling me at the right time again, dear friend.

Times, good or bad will come and go. The future will come one day at a time. Dont have to rush and no need to worry , it will definitely comes.

But I didnt realized that. When I was young, I was dying to grow up, so that I could go to school like the rest, then I was dying to finish my education so that I could start working, and then I was dying to get married and have children of my own. Now I am dying for my children to grow up and be independent. Life is so unpredictable, who knows tomorrow will ever comes. So enjoy live to the fullest today.

Have a nice and wonderful day!

A lovely note from a friend via email

"Hello Molly

Thank you for coming to my birthday celebration. We met fifteen years ago and you still looked very much the same. It is truly amazing how you have maintained your youth and beauty and keep it, my dear.

Many of my friends at the party did not believe that you are almost half a century old. Anyway age is just a figure to remind us of the year we are born for documentation purposes only! Always remember as the days tick away we fill our lives with joy and happiness all the way.

You have grown in wisdom and your sharing had touched many of us on how you managed to overcome your depression. It is a great lesson that many of us had benefited from your generous sharing. I am surprised that you managed to discern of an incident concerning my personal self in a very logical way. Thank you for giving me that assurance and it was an eye opener which I did not see.

Well I hope that from now on we can be on better footing because I am also in your same situation. I could understand that our friendship drifted apart because you and I were on different playing field. Now that we on the same boat, it will be much easier to find more things in common.

When I bumped into you a few months ago, I was a bit apprehensive intially to talk about my shattered dream but somehow I managed to overcome my shame and shared with you about my brokeness.

Well in life we sometimes have to face the harsh realities. By putting on a strong front does not necessarily mean that we are alright instead we carry that useless troublesome burden on our shoulders with stupidity.

When we live in self denial we are not only destroying our soul, it so robs us of our peace of mind. In my pain and distress, I came to realize that letting go with love gives me peace and joy to live a more meaningful life with or without my life partner.

Have beautiful and lovely day and thanks for joining the party.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" Christy, You Are One Year Younger

Went for a meeting with some friends today, they were Christy, Angie, Christine, margaret, Delia, Lilian, Deborah, Philo, Agnes, Sherrie and myself, for lunch. We were there to celebrate Christy's birthday.

Here again to the birthday girl, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We met at Spring Valley Restaurant at Mid Valley for Dim Sum Buffet. I was quite happy to find out the wide spread and variety of foods served by the restaurant.

The food they served were - all types of Dim Sum (steam, baked and fried), Sweet Sour fish, pork trotter, 2 types of fried prawn, fried chicken wings, black pepper pork stomach soup, fried rice and noodle, roast duck and steam chicken (freshly chop upon request), pancake rolls with roast duck and cucumber, Seafoods porridge, fruits, salad, desserts like Soya Jelly with Longan, Herbal Jelly, etc.. etc.. etc... and each one was served a bowl of sharks fin soup.

You would be surprised to see how much some of the people there could eat, including some of my friends and myself. I dont have the space in my stomach to put the 'siew mai', which is my favorite and a must eat dish whenever I go for Dim Sum, and the glutinous rice with filling 'Lo Mai Kai' and many other dishes ......

Per head is RM29.80 + 15%(not sure sales or service tax? Buss. hrs : 11.00 am to 2.00 pm). I think the price is reasonable, anyway, is cheap because I don't have to pay for it, the birthday girl paid all. Thank you again birthday girl.

Just remembered the foot reflexiologist asked me not to eat too much fried or roast meat, I forgot. I am not only a little over eat today I also ate most of the roast suckling pig at last night's dinner, because most of my family member don't take that, and it was my favorite, and I also drank 1/2 glass of Brandy offered (I did say no) to me, how to refuse a good offer? so how? Eat first and worry now lor!

Some Thoughts Flow Through While Waiting For My Sister

(THIS WAS POSTED ON 7/6/08 AT 9.30 AM AND NOT AS STATED ABOVE, 10000 APOLOGIES)

Today is "Agong's" birthday, and a public holiday. I don't prefer to call "Agong" because I am an a Hokkien, so is HM the king's birthday.

Cannot arrange for any long or short holiday because tonight my nephew's little cute baby is celebrating his full moon. Children all having appointment with their own friends for lepak lepak at shopping complex. So I, the "happy mother" is free like a bird, also looking out for somewhere to go. Let me see, go shopping, that's right, shopping. I need new cloths for tonight's dinner and for a wedding dinner next week and the following week, dancing party at Genting Highland.

Not easy to shop for cloth nowadays. Cannot wear too sexy, people tends to think why do I want to wear so sexy, but that has always been my way of wearing cloth, because Malaysia is a hot country ma!

Oh, too bad, my younger sister needs me to accompany her somewhere, so cannot go for shopping. That's good, I can save up. Otherwise, what I earned is not enought to pay for my Credit Card again this month. One more thing I forget, have to prepare "ANG POW" and pay for the party ticket!!!!

My parent has 16 grand children, and if all the grand children marry at the young age like our parent's time, then, let me count, how much I have to pay for the "Ang Pow" soon!!! Wahlao! have to work harder and save harder or else how to give big ang pow. If there is a will, there is a way! Malaysia boleh, Molly also boleh!!!!

There are many ways to double your dollars, one of the sure way is to fold it over and put it into your bank and forget about it for the time being. But with the petrol price keep increasing, only petrol bill is available for folding leh!!!

My sister is honking outside, the time now is 9.30 am. I am sure when I put up this post, the posting time will be something different, still figuring out what to do with it.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY! TTFN

Prevention is better then cure. As the cancer cell sometimes breakaway from a tumor and spread to other parts of the body and settle in a new place and form a new tumor, early detection is very important to prevent and stop it from spreading.

When you are facing trying times, it is high time you continue to try

Being a single mother, I went through lots and lots of hardship without any one's help. I went through alone, so silly, thinking back. I could have gone to some where like the church, or Buddhist asso., MCA , NGO or anything like that and ask them what to do with myself, and my children, but I didnt. We needed councilling, I didnt realized that. I thought I was OK and I didn't know there were organisations like that which may be of help to us. May be I was too busy thinking of the our future. In my mind all I wanted is to take good care of my 2 sons, prevent them from being hurt. I always put up a smilling face in front of friends and family members. So all of them thought I was OK!!! Let me tell you very frankly, I was not OK at ALL!!!!!

Later when I started to express my feelings, I was so glad to find 2 pairs of listening ears. They were my son's nanny and my 3rd sister. Only 2 of them really showed they care, and they were and are still the only understanding person on earth. If you can find one really good friend on earth, you are lucky, now I found 2, so I think I am 2x lucky.

See how patiently I waited for my mentors (Mental torture, hehehe!) to grow up. Off course not just sit there la, I did a lot of things to make ends meet.

I did many jobs to survived. I worked for an old lawyer, a very fussy, stubborn and a really difficult man to work with. I was the only employee who dare to walk out of him while he was still "lecturing", and the funny things was, he sacked all others except me. You probably still cannot imaging what type of a man he was. I was the No. 18th staff employed by him. If not for the sake of livelihood, I would have fled that place. I worked with that ridiculous man for 15 long years, patience ya!

Every day, the fussy boss would go home for lunch and usually would not return again after that. I was so free I went next door to do sewing for a tailor and earn some extra income + free lunch every day. Occassionally the fussy boss would return to the office, then the collegue would quickly phone me - "Molly, quickly come back! The monster is back !!!!" "Ok, if he asks about me, tell him I got stuck in the bank, OK!" "No problem!" . The few excuses we thought of were : to the bank, stuck in the traffic jam, went back home because children sick etc...etc...

I also bought and sold 2nd hand cars. Look at the women in the picture, do you think she can do that? Ya, dont judge her by the timid look! I was not brave but was very innocent, not thinking much about the consequences, what I thought off was money and nothing else. I usually could earn up to 2 to 3 thousand Ringgit per deal. There was once I earn RM4,000.00 within 2 days. I also bought and sold houses and from there, I also earned some money through few transactions. Not easy but good money yo!!!

When my children were younger, they followed me anywhere. Now they are not willing to go if the brother is not going along, the poor mother has to go alone, so terrible! Anyway I have to accept the fact that they are growing up and not growing younger. That is a positive sign and acceptable truth. Hehehehe

I have gone through the hardest time in life, but now the neighbour is giving me another trying time, this is not a joke. Cannot laugh...... cannot cry........cannot shout.........cannot scold........ SSStopp thinking, I will go crazy!
