Who Goes To Heaven?

A monk and a butcher were good friends and they were good neighbors too.

Every morning when the butcher woke up to work he would wake the monk up for prayer and the monk would do the same for the butcher.

These went on for many years until they were old and finally die.

One of them ended up in heaven and the other ended up in hell.

Dear friends, do you know which one ended up in heaven and which goes to hell and why?

Life Is Like Riding In A Roller Coaster

Things have been happening one after another to me this year. Not good things but lousy things. Anyway when bad things go, good things will follow suit. That is my philosophy. There is nothing to worry about.

Anyway, beginning this year, my 2nd sister has been calling and bugging me that this year is not a good year for me and I have to pray harder. She warn me to be careful and not to take risk, no investment, no lending money to others, no unnecessary spending, no gambling and blar, blar, blar…….. But I told her that our life is such that every year there is good and bad happening and some time roads get a little winding and tides get a little rough but that is the way that trained me up all these years.

Ah..ha.. Talking about gambling, that is proven. Every year during Chinese New Year, all my brothers and sisters will be in the mood for gambling. Every body is trying to fish the money from another person. I knew well in advance that my luck this year is not good for gambling but just for the sack of proving it I joined in the fun. And I paid a big price for the answer.

And things don’t just stop there. Recently a few more things happened and money was being fished out from my pocket due to that:

First, my car’s two side tyres were stolen right in front of Summit Shopping Centre housing area in a bright day light, where there are many passer by.

Second, my house auto-gate was out of order. I have changed the whole control panel before New Year and now the lightning strike on it and there goes my money again.

Third, one of my front teeth chips off. Luckily it didn’t cost me very much to paste it back but still some money gone out of my pocket.

Forth, today my son who is under 21 years old was driving and met with an accident. It was a chain accident involving 4 cars, and his was the last to ram into the car in front of him. Now I have to pay out of my pocket RM400.00 to the insurance company because my son is underage and RM300.00 for traffic offence.

Fifth, I dropped my phone accidentally and now I need a new phone.

Sixth, something valuable was stolen from my house by some one which I suspected is the cleaner. I cannot confirmed because I don't have the proof. I have sounded it out to show that I knew my thing is missing and that I am aware of it.

Anyway things always happen for a reason and my interpretation are:

1. For stolen tyres - I have to be more careful where to park my car in the future.

2. My auto gate - It gives me a reason to pay the worker in this difficult time.

3. My teeth chips off - Enjoy life, don’t rush, take time to slowly chew my food like I used to do.

4. Car accident: It is a good lessen for my son. I have told him that whenever he is in a hurry, don’t rush; and whenever he is sleepy, don’t drive. It is better late than never. Now I supposed he gets what I meant.

5. For my hand phone – It is a good excuse to have a new one.

6. For the stolen thing - Well, just keep the valuables away from the open. We are born with nothing and go with nothing. Life and health is most valuable.

Anyway, things happened everyday and not all the happenings are on the newspaper to warn us. For example my nephew’s car was stolen last week at Subang Jaya, right in front of the bank where he works; and there are kidnapping and road bullies that happen everyday. There were once some one ram into my car and worrying that I would ask him to pay because he was in the wrong, he came threatening me with a stick. The guy was really brainless and wasting space in this world.
.
Anyway, life is not as scarry as riding in the roller coaster. Oh! No? Not scary? To me riding roller coaster is like going to hell and back again.
.
I would prefer see saw!

Strange Things Happen Everyday

Last weekend, I went to attend a funeral in Singapore. It was the funeral of an old lady of almost 90 years old; she is my 3rd sister's mother-in-law.

In such a sad occasion every one tense to tune to sad mood (have to pretend a little) at least for the first few hours. After that we were actually having some fun cracking jokes and laughing away. What else to do, foods were served promptly and everything were so well taken care of.

On the last day of the funeral, the 7th day, one of my cousin sisters came. She is about my elder sister’s age which is about 18 years older than me and my younger sister but we both usually pretend to know their friends and some older cousins of their age very well.

While they were chatting, I realized my elder sister’s face suddenly change to a serious look. I drew close to them and listened to the conversation and occasionally I interrupted their conversation in order to get a clearer picture of her story.

Actually one of my cousin’s younger boys Eugene passed away a year ago while he was in an overseas working trip. One day, after work, he went for a swim at his apartment and was drown due to heart problem, which I didn’t have the time to find out more. What interests me was what the parent encountered after his death. The following are some of the encounters she told us:

1. First thing they encounter was on the 7th day after the son's death. While my cousin and her husband were sleeping they felt the bed shaking very hard and instantly they guessed that the son were at home. My cousin started to talk to him although she was not sure what happened actually and what to do.

2. She placed his ashes in a temple. One day an old lady at the temple were doing meditation as usual and suddenly she dosed off and saw a young man standing in front of her. She felt very strange and suddenly she realized the young man looked like my cousin’s son. So she went and tells my cousin about it.

3. One day my cousin’s elder son, George went for a swim. On the way back he realized he left his wallet at the poolside. So he returned to find it. Earlier some one had returned the wallet to the security department and asked to return to the owner. The manager checked the Identity card and he said it belonged to Eugene, which is George’s late brother. They felt very strange and when they checked the Identity Card again; the name printed was actually George. And none of them met or knew about both the brothers earlier.

4. Every year the whole family will go back to Penang to celebrate the grandfather’s birthday. For last year, one day before they went back to Penang my cousin went to the temple where she placed Eugene’s ashes, and told him about the trip. The second morning my cousin and her family started the journey at about 4 am in the morning. While the father was driving, he saw Eugene face appears at the windscreen.

It is hard to believe right? Now let me tell you about one of my many own encounters.

One day, last year, I came back home at night at about 11.00 pm after attending a funeral. When I entered the gate my neighbor’s dog which will only bark at the stranger suddenly bark at me very fiercely. At first I didn’t feel anything wrong but suddenly my hair stand and I felt strange. I started to say prayer before I enter my house.

My 2nd sister too had a strange encounter. She went for an operation at the Subang Medical Centre 2 years ago. She has a son and a daughter who accompanied her to the hospital. After her children went back the nurse told her that her 3rd son was still outside. She argued she has only one son and one daughter but the nurse argued she saw her 2 sons and she said her younger son looks very pale. Actually my sister had a miscarriage long ago after her son was born.

Am I or my cousin sister or my sister been thinking too much? Or is there something wrong with us?

To All Who Are Single Again

Another friend of mine, who is single again is getting married.

I admire her courage to take up a new relationship.

For me, I have lost interest, lost confident, lost the courage to do that. Otherwise I would have been a millionaire's wife now.

Actually someone who is a friend of my childhood friend were interest in me and came promised me love, roses, money, travelling ... the promises given to me were so tempting but I still cant do like the frog in Ipoh, to close an eye and jump into the millions.

Well that is over now and it is alright for me because I am feeling as free as a bird and I am keeping myself busy and happy, although occasionally I am facing a different kind of pressure being a single but compared to the pressure given by a partner, this is nothing.

I am not trying to discourage anyone from a new relationship, but if you think you really have found a person who can be trusted, then go ahead and go ahead to regret if you found that is a wrong decision. Rather than you sit and regret you have not given yourself a second chance, *sigh* like me lor.
.
Again I would like to say, it is ok to try something and feel regret later rather than you REGRET later that you have not tried anything at all in your life.
.
Right?!?!
.
Life is short, so lets enjoy life to the fullest!

The Countdown

Chinese New Year is getting closer. Like most typical Chinese, I am also emtying my purse for decorative items for the house, Ang-pow (red packet with money), food and clothing. Apart from that I am also spending my time making sure that my house looks clean and attractive this year so that the prosperity god will visit me as he always does before.

Let me start the countdown before it is too late :

1. 14th - Shop for both big and small lanterns, other decorative items, 2 pots of lime trees and few pots of plants with flower.
- Send greeting cards.

2. 15th - Clean and arrange my wardrobe and get rid of all unwanted clothing.

3. 16th - Paint my gate.

4. 17th - Gardening.

5. 18th - Bake Cookies.

6. 19th - Change new cash notes from bank and get the 'Ang-pow' ready for my children, nieces and nephews.

7. 20th - To clean up my store room, windows, doors, grills, wash curtains, cushions etc...

8. 21st - Shop for my new dress, shoes, handbag etc...

9. 22nd - Send car to mechanic for servicing, make sure it doesn't break down during the New Year.

10. 23rd - Shop for dried food like - red dates, sea cucumber, fish maw, black fungus, tofu skin, rice ......

11. 24th - Make a visit to the wet market - Fish, prawn, chicken, pork, pineapple, mandarin oranges, vegetables, seasonings ....

12. 25th - Chinese new year's eve. I will be busy giving my house a thorough cleaning, to make sure all the ill-fortune are swept away and welcoming the good luck.

Yea it's a handful of chores, so as you'd have guessed, i'm not doing all this by myself. My "maids' will help me.

When I said maids I meant sons :)

This time I will split the job evenly so as not to get grumpy sons this festive season.
