A Task I Cannot Avoid

Went to the new Toyota Service Centre , Subang Jaya to service my car yesterday. Estimated 3 hours job, so I decided to wait instead of going home. Well, I have no choice, because it is too early to get someone to fetch me home and to those who are working is not convenience too to trouble them.

3 hours wait could means a long time if you are sitting some where hot and stuffy. But at the new Toyota service centre at Subang Jaya, waiting is a pleasant experience. There were many people waiting, some with their laptop, some reading newspaper and there are a few computers for some restless to serf net and get connected while waiting for their car.

I sat comfortably there watching my favourite magic show after reading The Star and Sin Chew Daily papers, sipping coffee and eating sandwich I bought on the way there. Wah, I am feeling so at home.

I used to hate sending car for repair but after yesterday's experience I think I dont mind sending my car for service again in the future.

I know, I know many of you don't have to worry about sending car for repair because there are some one to do it for you, right? Lucky you, but for me, I have no no no choice. I will have to do it myself as long as I want to own a car.

Oh God! I May Be Carrying H1N1

I am having flu, cough and sore throat. Symptoms very close to the recent epidemic, which make me a little panic now.

I was not worried earlier and have been travelling to Kuching last month to visit my friends and been to some trade show display centre, visit all PC fair exhibit booths at KL Convention Centre, to PD for a break and to the shopping centre for the BIG sales. All those places were very crowded which I think is not advisable to expose ourselves there.

Now suddenly I am down with flu, cough and sore throat. Although confirmed by the doctor that I have no fever I still worry that the medication may weaken my immune system. Now I have to be very careful with my diet, making doubly sure I eat well and keep physical and mentally strong.

I think I should be staying at home for the time being, and not out to spread the flu to others. So just forget about the grand sales and the MATTA fair which will be starting 4th September at the moment.

Look at the *smart* Orang Utan below, unlike me, they have no health problem, no worry, no pressure, no financial need, just live a carefree and happy life!

Hey, Mr Postman

I am feeling relieved and in a happier mood recently. Hmm.. Wonder why?

The bad neighbors have moved out, yeah!!!

Since I heard they were moving out few months ago, I have been holding my breath counting the day and hoping that they will not change their mind and stay on.

I am not the only one bullied by them. Their daughter-in-law has moved out earlier because she couldn’t stand the bully too.

Actually their presence were causing me worry and lots of inconvenience. See, I have my own letter box but some of the letters ended up in their rubbish bin, why? Could it be Mr. Postman dropped wrongly into their box or they came stealing it from my letter box while I was out? This has caused me great concern but nothing much I could do about it.

Some of you must be thinking how am I so sure that my letters were missing and they were the one stealing it or Mr. Postman dropped the letters wrongly. Here is the proof:

They don’t have a rubbish chute and they place a rubbish bin in front of my house which irritates me a lot. Sometimes the stray dogs and cats came messed up the bin and there were twice I found my letters inside the bin. I was really angry but I couldn’t do anything, just pretended nothing has happened rather than making a scene out of it.

If you have a bullying neighbor like my ex, I suggest you get a whitehall mailbox with a lock and keep a bull dog for double security.

Now that they have moved, I should praise myself for being so patience, tolerant, good hearted etc…etc… etc.. hehehe....self praise…..

Aunty Farmer

I am going to start planting organic vegetable at my little garden.
.
Looks like an easy job but actually it is really tough just to plough and loosen up the soil alone. And with a small hoe like this it is even tougher. I am having backache bone ache all over for the past few days.
Now I can feel the muscle in my arm and my finger going out of shape already. Seriously have to think of getting a gardener to help me.
Went to a nursery at Sungai Buloh to buy some organic soil and 'natural' fertiliser today.

Very soon i will have my own supply of organic vegetable, Heeeeeehehheeeee.....
.
Have you seen an Aunty farmer before? Soon I will look like one .... dark, muscular and tough!!!!

Please Keep In Touch

My friend, Angie, has just got married not long ago and has since been relocated. Being so used to directv at home she was worried she will be missing all her favorite programmes and will be bored in the new environment. She decided to find a suitable Direct TV service which provide entertainment and at the same time not too costly. But now I doubt she will have the time like before for Directv. LOL

There are directv in NY, CA, FL etc.... So entertainment is really not a problem when I am old and wherever I will be. I think I am worrying too much and been thinking too far as if I will live up to 100 years old like our fellow blogger, foongpc. LOL

Anyway, I will be visiting Angie with 2 of her friends in July. She has helped us booked our returned ticket from 15th July. So, stay tuned for my update ok!

Switch On The Light, Please

While I was cooking one day, my kitchen light suddenly went off with a soft sparkling sound and I smell something burning.

Wao, that was nothing to joke about at all. It seems like a small matter but it could lead to big fire too.

Actually I have just changed the lighting from an ordinary fluorescent light to a fancier one thinking more expensive one would be safer. Too bad it turn out to be opposite.

After the incident, many things came to my mind:

1. What is the cause of the problem?

2. Who is at fault? Was it the manufacturer, the contractor or my house wiring problem?

3. What type of lighting should I go for?

4. Which brand is safer and more durable?

Whatever is the reason, I still have to have lighting in my house. Now, let me plan a little what lighting to use before I call in a contractor.

For the kitchen I will always stick to fluorescent light with extra brightness to make sure I can see all the tiny worms hiding in the vegetable and to avoid adding sugar instead of salt to my cooking or vise versa.

For dinning hall, I would like something dimmer because on a table, there should be enough light to see the person across the table but not too bright that distract from the mood of the candle like kind of mood I am creating.

And the planning goes on for my hall downstairs and upstairs, my room, my children’s rooms, etc. Not an easy task because I would like to have some beautiful designer lamp which might involve more money. But I think it is worth the money because a beautiful lamp is like an art and it does not only help brighten up, it helps beautify our rooms. So there will be some fancier designed lighting to replace the outdated ones.

I think I will go visit some online store like shopwiki for some lamps buying guides.

Making Dumpling

Tomorrow is dumpling festival. As usual my mom will prepare dumpling for us.

This is the first year I am taking part in helping because it is high time I learn the trade, so that I can make for my children in future.

Nowadays you can buy dumpling at almost any wet market and everyday but it is never as nice as the one prepared by my mum. My mum's taste almost 200% better than those bought outside. Hehehe, there is no exaggeration.

The following are the ingredients needed for the dumpling:
1. Pork

2. Oysters (soak)

3. Garlic
4. Nuts (soak and clean)
5. Mushroom (soak)6. 5-spice powder & white pepper

8. The ready ingredients (pork, nut, mushroom, oyster, garlic, 5-spice power, pepper, sugar & salt)
9. Leave and string (boil the leave and clean with a piece of cloth one by one)
10. Rice and bean with some salt, sugar and pepper and 5-spice powder.

9. The ready dumpling

9. Cover and boil it for 2 hours. We didn't use the pressure cooker so to avoid the boiling water overflowing, we add a porcelain spoon into the boiling water and strangely the water stop flowing out.

And if you think that is just an easy job then take a look at this Ah Soh's sweaty face and her messy hair.

I Think I Am Very Normal, How About You?

Everybody wants to stay beautiful, healthy and happy, but that is almost impossible for us to stay like that forever. We grow old, our hairs and teeth go missing one by one and there are ups and downs in life, and our bone strink, and wrinkle in the face, and.............

Anyway, I am not worried because it would be silly wasting time worrying for something which is not in my control. What I want to do now is to try the best I could to stay happy and healthy. Below is a simple check list to see if I am keeping myself well and to find out what are the areas need improvements:

1. Food is vital to keep me healthy, so, besides my proper meals, I also pop in some necessary Vitamins & supplements like : Calcium & Glucosamine to strengthen my bone, Vitamin E & Omega 3&6 to wash away the cholesterol, Vitamin C for my skin, B for slimming and relaxation ++++ Multi-vitamin just in case I missed out some essential vitamins in my diet. Mmm.. need to improve my cooking, so I have appetite to eat more.

2. I go for facial once every 2 months. Apart from that I also use a lot of protection for my skin days and nights, like toner, moisturizer, lotion for lifting, for whitening, for wrinkle, sun block etc, etc, etc ... Mmm .. need to boil some beauty sweet soup more often.

3. For exercise, I go jogging in the evening, line dance, gardening and singing (lung exercise, hehehe). Mmm... My garden is not getting better but worst. Need a gardener to help out.

4. I do prayer at home everyday, once in the morning and once in the evening if I have the time. Mmm.... Need to be more committed spiritually.
5. For Family life, I am not sure I am a good mother. For that I would like to leave it to my sons to rate me. Mmm...I would rate myself 6/10.

6. Job? I am a mother, a house maid with never ending house chores and a sole bread earner. Mmm... Need to increase my income. By the way, how many people are not as money face as me??
7. Social life? Mmm... Seriously need some adjustment and time management. I... NEED... MORE FRIENDS .....of same frequency!!!

Life Is Like Riding In A Roller Coaster

Things have been happening one after another to me this year. Not good things but lousy things. Anyway when bad things go, good things will follow suit. That is my philosophy. There is nothing to worry about.

Anyway, beginning this year, my 2nd sister has been calling and bugging me that this year is not a good year for me and I have to pray harder. She warn me to be careful and not to take risk, no investment, no lending money to others, no unnecessary spending, no gambling and blar, blar, blar…….. But I told her that our life is such that every year there is good and bad happening and some time roads get a little winding and tides get a little rough but that is the way that trained me up all these years.

Ah..ha.. Talking about gambling, that is proven. Every year during Chinese New Year, all my brothers and sisters will be in the mood for gambling. Every body is trying to fish the money from another person. I knew well in advance that my luck this year is not good for gambling but just for the sack of proving it I joined in the fun. And I paid a big price for the answer.

And things don’t just stop there. Recently a few more things happened and money was being fished out from my pocket due to that:

First, my car’s two side tyres were stolen right in front of Summit Shopping Centre housing area in a bright day light, where there are many passer by.

Second, my house auto-gate was out of order. I have changed the whole control panel before New Year and now the lightning strike on it and there goes my money again.

Third, one of my front teeth chips off. Luckily it didn’t cost me very much to paste it back but still some money gone out of my pocket.

Forth, today my son who is under 21 years old was driving and met with an accident. It was a chain accident involving 4 cars, and his was the last to ram into the car in front of him. Now I have to pay out of my pocket RM400.00 to the insurance company because my son is underage and RM300.00 for traffic offence.

Fifth, I dropped my phone accidentally and now I need a new phone.

Sixth, something valuable was stolen from my house by some one which I suspected is the cleaner. I cannot confirmed because I don't have the proof. I have sounded it out to show that I knew my thing is missing and that I am aware of it.

Anyway things always happen for a reason and my interpretation are:

1. For stolen tyres - I have to be more careful where to park my car in the future.

2. My auto gate - It gives me a reason to pay the worker in this difficult time.

3. My teeth chips off - Enjoy life, don’t rush, take time to slowly chew my food like I used to do.

4. Car accident: It is a good lessen for my son. I have told him that whenever he is in a hurry, don’t rush; and whenever he is sleepy, don’t drive. It is better late than never. Now I supposed he gets what I meant.

5. For my hand phone – It is a good excuse to have a new one.

6. For the stolen thing - Well, just keep the valuables away from the open. We are born with nothing and go with nothing. Life and health is most valuable.

Anyway, things happened everyday and not all the happenings are on the newspaper to warn us. For example my nephew’s car was stolen last week at Subang Jaya, right in front of the bank where he works; and there are kidnapping and road bullies that happen everyday. There were once some one ram into my car and worrying that I would ask him to pay because he was in the wrong, he came threatening me with a stick. The guy was really brainless and wasting space in this world.
.
Anyway, life is not as scarry as riding in the roller coaster. Oh! No? Not scary? To me riding roller coaster is like going to hell and back again.
.
I would prefer see saw!

I Am What I am

I would give only what I could give

Many a time I have tried to be

What others want me to be - and failed

I cannot be all things to all people

And it was not until I recognised that in myself

And saw the limitations of my own capacities

That I began to be able to accept myself

and give up some of my quilts....

I cannot run a mile in 5 minutes

Nor soar like a gull in the morning skies

And there are mornings when

The day seems to stretch into disaster

And there would always be those times, those days

And if I recognise them not as failures and weaknesses

But part of my basic humanness

And the right to be imperfect

I will never have to be afraid again .....

That is one thing I have learned

And it has helped me now

At least to stand alone

Without the need to clutch and cling for support.......

Still,

It would be good if there is someone

It is not fun to be alone .... sometimes

It's Time I Change For a Better Tomorrow

While I was having my meal today, I suddenly realised my life is kind of boring. I realized I forgot to live, I just managed to survive. Everyday what I do is planning for what to eat for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner, for myself and for my children..... and working .....

One more thing I forget is to be a nice and well-mannered person.
.
Am I that bad???? Lets see!
******
******

If well-mannered girls are those who :
.
Do not offend others
.
Do not become angry easily
.
Do not turn evil for evil
.
Do not monopolize conversation
.
Do not interrupt when someone else is talking
.
In brief, they are :Kind, Friendly, Respectful, Courteous, Agreeable, Patient, Civil and Generous.
.
Now let me rate myself:
.
1. I've lost my patient. Unlike those days I was really patient. (-1 point)
.
2. I am always not agreeable with others. I always have something to add or to correct about others opinions. (-1 point)
.
3. I am too straight forward in giving comments about others. I meant good without realizing it is hurting. (-1 point)
.
4. I often scold people in my heart, *%&X! #?!* instead of openly, whenever someone irritates me. (- 1 point)
.
5. I am not very friendly to my neighbors who bullied me, who tried to kick me out of my own home. (-1 point)
.
6. I talk more than I listen. (- 0.5 point)
.
The result?............
.
.
.
.
.
****10 - 5.5 = 4.5 ****
.
.

Help, I Am Starving!

See what I have done to my pot again?

This is not the first time I throw away my pot. It is the 3rd times.
.
So, I have found a few solutions :
.
1. No more boiling soup.
.
2. Buy cheap pot, so I dont feel the pinch when I need to throw away..
.
3. Take a chair and sit at the kitchen and wait until the soup is ready.
.
4. Use a big pot and put lots of water and let it boils for as long as I am busy.
.
5. Dont boil soup at home, cater.
.
6. Use slow cooker.
.
7. An electric cooker with timer.
.
To punish myself, I stop cooking and stuff myself with cheese cake for lunch, tea, dinner and supper.
.
Errr......Eeee.... I dont think I will ever want cheese cake again for a long, long time.

Shopping, Shopping, Shopping For Christmas, For New Year

Every now and then I would shop for clothes for my two sons be it formal or casual attire. Usually I would go to malls or shops to look for anything interesting that would also look good on my sons. Ooh well, that’s what all moms want right? For their sons to look better compared to others.
So yea, sometimes I walk around malls the whole day and can’t find something nice or something that catches my fancy. Sometimes I just find what I want but never able to pair it up with anything.
It really is a pain in the rear sometimes, you not able to get what you want. Getting my feet soar for nothing… until I got the internet. I can search for whatever I want, anytime I want. It’s a big big net world out there, if you get what I mean. There are lots of sites that I can look for clothes and I would never have to leave the comfort of my chair.

Of all the websites introduced by friends and I’ve been to, there is this particular one, Shopwiki really got my attention, that I will go back each time whenever I need. It’s like it has anything I need or want to look for. And the best part of it is, there are descriptions and ideas on what to pair each clothing with.

You can also search for other stuff that you want to buy. And it’ll lead you to the most possible site that you can purchase it from. Pretty nifty huh? Well, I’ve been using it for quite some time now and I think I won’t be able to find anything better anytime soon.
