I Am What I am

I would give only what I could give

Many a time I have tried to be

What others want me to be - and failed

I cannot be all things to all people

And it was not until I recognised that in myself

And saw the limitations of my own capacities

That I began to be able to accept myself

and give up some of my quilts....

I cannot run a mile in 5 minutes

Nor soar like a gull in the morning skies

And there are mornings when

The day seems to stretch into disaster

And there would always be those times, those days

And if I recognise them not as failures and weaknesses

But part of my basic humanness

And the right to be imperfect

I will never have to be afraid again .....

That is one thing I have learned

And it has helped me now

At least to stand alone

Without the need to clutch and cling for support.......

Still,

It would be good if there is someone

It is not fun to be alone .... sometimes

It's Time I Change For a Better Tomorrow

While I was having my meal today, I suddenly realised my life is kind of boring. I realized I forgot to live, I just managed to survive. Everyday what I do is planning for what to eat for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner, for myself and for my children..... and working .....

One more thing I forget is to be a nice and well-mannered person.
.
Am I that bad???? Lets see!
******
******

If well-mannered girls are those who :
.
Do not offend others
.
Do not become angry easily
.
Do not turn evil for evil
.
Do not monopolize conversation
.
Do not interrupt when someone else is talking
.
In brief, they are :Kind, Friendly, Respectful, Courteous, Agreeable, Patient, Civil and Generous.
.
Now let me rate myself:
.
1. I've lost my patient. Unlike those days I was really patient. (-1 point)
.
2. I am always not agreeable with others. I always have something to add or to correct about others opinions. (-1 point)
.
3. I am too straight forward in giving comments about others. I meant good without realizing it is hurting. (-1 point)
.
4. I often scold people in my heart, *%&X! #?!* instead of openly, whenever someone irritates me. (- 1 point)
.
5. I am not very friendly to my neighbors who bullied me, who tried to kick me out of my own home. (-1 point)
.
6. I talk more than I listen. (- 0.5 point)
.
The result?............
.
.
.

****10 - 5.5 = 4.5 ****

Help, I Am Starving!

See what I have done to my pot again?

This is not the first time I throw away my pot. It is the 3rd times.
.
So, I have found a few solutions :
.
1. No more boiling soup.
.
2. Buy cheap pot, so I dont feel the pinch when I need to throw away..
.
3. Take a chair and sit at the kitchen and wait until the soup is ready.
.
4. Use a big pot and put lots of water and let it boils for as long as I am busy.
.
5. Dont boil soup at home, cater.
.
6. Use slow cooker.
.
7. An electric cooker with timer.
.
To punish myself, I stop cooking and stuff myself with cheese cake for lunch, tea, dinner and supper.
.
Errr......Eeee.... I dont think I will ever want cheese cake again for a long, long time.

Shopping, Shopping, Shopping For Christmas, For New Year

Every now and then I would shop for clothes for my two sons be it formal or casual attire. Usually I would go to malls or shops to look for anything interesting that would also look good on my sons. Ooh well, that’s what all moms want right? For their sons to look better compared to others.
So yea, sometimes I walk around malls the whole day and can’t find something nice or something that catches my fancy. Sometimes I just find what I want but never able to pair it up with anything.
It really is a pain in the rear sometimes, you not able to get what you want. Getting my feet soar for nothing… until I got the internet. I can search for whatever I want, anytime I want. It’s a big big net world out there, if you get what I mean. There are lots of sites that I can look for clothes and I would never have to leave the comfort of my chair.

Of all the websites introduced by friends and I’ve been to, there is this particular one, Shopwiki really got my attention, that I will go back each time whenever I need. It’s like it has anything I need or want to look for. And the best part of it is, there are descriptions and ideas on what to pair each clothing with.

You can also search for other stuff that you want to buy. And it’ll lead you to the most possible site that you can purchase it from. Pretty nifty huh? Well, I’ve been using it for quite some time now and I think I won’t be able to find anything better anytime soon.

I Saw A Ghost!!!

I have started spring cleaning a week ago, getting ready for Christmas and Chinese New Year 2009.
.
I took 2 and a half month for cleaning up last year when I don't have a part time maid to help clean my window, grill, fans, curtain, cushion, garden etc. Now with a part time maid, I guess I will need about a month to complete the cleaning and start planning for other thing for my new year.
.
How I wish I could take leave for one month and concentrate on my cleaning. Any way that shouldn't be a problem. I just have to adjust a little of my working hours.
.
I woke up at 5.30 am today with my mind still half dreamy I started cleaning up. With my blur, blur eyes I looked out of my kitchen window toward my neighbour's house from my kitchen and guess what I see ? A......... G..G.GHOST!!!!
.
Don't believe? Off course is hard to make all of you believe if there is no proof, so I quickly took out my camera and take a picture of the ghost with face so pale, hair and tongue so long.
.
Here is the picture to proooof I didn't lie at all!
.

.
Ooooops! too dark to see anything, lets try again :
.

.
See that? Not clear? Then take a look at the next picture!
.

Sorry, that was just a black sunshade cap and a broom stick. I think I need a pair of glasses or I have been thinking too much!

Hehehe, so embarrassing. *blush*blush*

George Carlin

Received the following message via email :

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin :

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgement, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.

We've added years to life not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbour.

We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've c! leaned u p the air, but polluted the soul.

We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less.

We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom.

A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it.

A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If you don't send this to other people....Who cares?

Georg! e Carlin

Aunty Duck Talking To Uncle Chicken

Streamyx bill has increased from RM77.00 to RM88.00 per month? I am not sure!

The bill I received clearly stated that I have to pay RM165.00 and apart from the bill I also received a notification of late billing for internets service but did not mentioned about the increased. So I supposed the bill is for 2 months and wrongly charged.

Unwilling to pay for extra RM11.00, I called the streamyx call centre for clarification.

rrrringgg....rrringg.....rringgg...................

Call Centre (CC) : Good evening, I am xxxx, may I help you?

Mol : Good evening. I received a streamyx bill dated 28 Oct. and a notification about late billing, but the charges stated in the bill is wrong. It should be RM154.00 (RM77 + RM77) but the bill is RM165 (RM77.00 + RM88.00). Why is that so?

CC : Ok madam, what you received is a sample only.

Mol : Do you mean I can ignore the bill and don't have to pay according to the bill?

CC : No madam, you have to pay the bill in full ie RM165.00.

Mol : But you are charging me RM11.00 extra. Why is that so?

CC : Madam, can you read the letter we send to you about late billing.

Mol : Yes. But now what I am asking you is, why am I being charged extra RM11.00 in the bill? The letter didn't mention anything about the extra charges at all.

CC : Madam, that is just a sample only.

Mol : *?!?!! Sample????*
Do you mean I don't have to pay according to the bill? (Same question asked twice, what is happening to me? :(:( .

CC : No Madam, you have to pay RM165.00. You are now paying in advance for the service. You may go to any TM centre for enquiry about the late billing.

Mol : *??? advance payment!!!!* No problem I will be as frustrated as I am now if I were to go to the TM centre. Thank you for trying. I will pay accordingly and if there is any extra charges please refund to me later, is that alright?

Actually the staff could have just tell me that the charges for streamyx has increased from October 08 onward and to visit the TM centre for further clarification.

If my manglish (Mandarin + English) is also complicating you like the above, please don't hesitate to tell me. Dont laugh alone, just put up a comment and we can laugh together, hahahahahah!!!! no problem at all, ok!!!
Duck : Quak quak quak...........
Chicken : ??!!!!!??? .. kok...kok...kokoooo.........
Duck : ???!!!!????

A Tiring Day

HO HO HO I am going shopping with a friend! She is renovating her kitchen and is looking for lots of kitchen things.
.
For me, I am looking for a stove and a pair of sunglasses.
.
We went for our brunch then to Signature Kitchen for her kitchen design, after that we headed to IKEA. Spent more than 2 hours walking around but found nothing that suits us. We ended up at the electrical shops where she bought the exhaust fan, water heater, lightings, door bell, washing machine, etc.......

We are still looking for Rinnai Stove and a Kitchen sink.
.
Anyone knows where to find the latest Rinnai Stove? We have been hopping from big and small electrical shops but couldnt find any shop that sells this brand.
.
OK, One more week, if I still couldnt find Rinnai anywhere, I will just close my eye and get one! Any brand will do, in order for me to carry on with my life without depending on outside foods, which is killing! I mean both the price and quality of the foods.
.
Went to Restaurant Shabu-Shabu for steamboat before we call it a day.

Is a nice place for steamboat. It is clean, pleasent environment, indivisual pot, air-conditioned. I really like it, very well ventilated.
After almost a whole day shopping, we still couldnt find all that we wanted.

Huh! Now, it is 'Money not enought' or 'Time not enough'?

I Have My Limit

My stove is spoilt, my electric stove is also spoilt, and I have given away my microwave oven after learning that it is not safe to use it. Huh, I feel that life cannot go on any more if I dont quickly get a new one.

That is not all. I have lost my sunglasses, now only the casing is left with me!And, the worst thing is the neighbour starts hanging the dirty drags on the fencing again. Don't you all think that is irritating. I have not built a concrete wall after they stopped me from doing it, and I have tried to be a good neighbour by giving in to them so that they can dry their clothing and not the dirty drags, but what they have done in return again and again? They know I hate that and yet they purposely do that. Each time I see the drags I get really mad and now I feel like xxx at those people. Can any of you feels my anger?
Now I feel that being a single mother, I am being bullied by people not openly but in a coward way. Hei, dear neighbours, you are educated people, stop doing that on purpose, that will just make you looks otherwise.

Last time it was the left hand side neighbours showing their unfriendliness and now the right hand side neighbours showing theirs in a different way.

I want to kill, kill, kill.................................... the rats.. the skunk.. the cochroaches.... they are all nuisance. But.. what do they have to do with my neighbours ????? I am out of my mind..

I will definitely built up a concrete wall, AND don't think that is what I want, you ask for it, NEIGHBOURs!!!!!!!!!

Home Alone

Home alone, how does that sound to you? I really enjoy being alone but I know if I continue to be alone, I will become koo koo soon. Anyway, it is only temporarily. My sons will be back; and after I have completed my project I will start joining friends out there again.
.
Meanwhile, I also have to clear all the stuff I have in the fridge while it's still fresh.
.
That will means whatever I eat and cook from now are stuffs from my fridge. I am not sure how many days I need to finish all those stuffs, but one thing for sure, i.e. no more marketing until everything is cleared. .
.
Lets see how much I have cleared today, or I should say dumped into my stomach :
.
For breakfast, I had a cup of juice with an apple, chocolate milk, multi-vitamin and protein power blended together; a piece of carrot cake I bought from Coffee Bean 2 days ago and a cup of tea.

For lunch I had sambal prawn with cucumber and rice. Mmmm.. delicious .. .
The ingredients are: 3 table spoonful hot spicy chilly sauce with ginger and garlic, one onion, one potato, one tomato, salt and sugar. I don't have 'belacan' and santan in my fridge, but it doesn't matter at all because I am trying to avoid these 2 items which are not doing any good for my health.
.

And for dinner, I cooked vegetable soup.
.
First I fried the chopped onion and garlic until it is brown, add in some chicken stocks, tomato and wolf berries and boil it for few minutes.

Add in the meat, 2 types of organic vegetables, 1 piece of toufu, an egg, 4 pieces of fried toufu, and prawns.
.

That's really filling. *burp* Excuse me!
.
First 3 meals 'KauTim'!

Can I Call It 'Lobak'?

I admit I have some bad habit when comes to marketing. I have the urge to buy anything that is fresh. People can tell me that something that they're selling just arrived from farm, or it is very fresh or home grown or is organic, I will definitely get a packet of that... whatever it is.
.
When I checked my fridge today I found that I have one yam, a packet of water chestnuts, spring onion, celery, 2 packet of meat, eggs, fish, prawn, cabbage, tomato, apples, oranges and some other vegetable in there.
.
I've better stop going to market this week and find someone to finish all those thing when I turned it into dishes.
.
It's not impossible to finish all those things but to turn into delicious dishes is a bit of challenge for me. Mmmmm..... what to cook leh?
.
**** After seeing so many stars, I still cannot decide whether to make meat balls, or steam egg with minced meat, or meat with black soy sauce, curry fish or prawn ....... Suddenly I realized my children like to eat 'Lobak' but I always discourage them from taking that outside because of the dark, black recycled oil they used to fry the Lobak.
.
So I decided to make 'Lobak'.
.
Ingredients and methods :
.
1. Cut the meat into big chunks.

2. Cut Yam into two half. Half piece steam till it's cooked and soft and smash it. The other half keep for 'Bubur cha cha' later.
.
3. Cut and chop all the garlic and shallots in the picture.
.
4. Peel the water chestnuts and chop into small pieces.

5. Wash and dice celery and spring onion. You can cut as much as you like, this is home cook healthy food, no restriction.

6. Mix all the ingredients together with some salt, soy sauce, pepper, five-spice powder, 2 eggs, chinese wine and some cornflour :
7. Wrap it with bean curd sheet and deep fry :

Yeah! a job well done! It was yummy, yummy delicious, no joke!

My Sunday Morning

Oh! No! No! No! I had a flat tyre. What should I do? It was so early in the morning, no mechanic worked this early and I have no contact number of any mechanic for emergency like this.
.
I found out I had a flat tyre only when I have finished my marketing. Could it have happened yesterday on the way back from The Mines Wonderland? However, I do not think so and hopefully not, it's so dangerous thinking of how fast I drove last night.
.
Now my problem is, I have to rush back to do some gardening before sun gets hot and to watch my Korean drama at 9.30 am. *knock my head* 'Stop thinking of the drama, deal with this real drama is more important now.' I told myself. Luckily I acted quickly enough to get my rushing mind settled down. Otherwise I might be acting an interesting drama myself and start kicking, scolding and make a scene at the market place like a monkey.
.
Although I know how to change a flat, but I don't have the physical strength to do it and may risk injury while attempting to change it. Often, lug nuts are bolted very tight to the wheel, and tyres themselves are quite heavy. What to do? Although there were many passer-by but I cant be troubling someone so early in the morning to change the tyre for me, although I am willing to pay. But if I continue to move the car, it could do more damage to the wheel and other parts of the car. Is it? I am not sure. I am still very innocent about car parts although I drive it everyday.
.
There wasn't any choice for me. The best thing I could do then was to move my car slowly to the petrol station and fill up the air temporarily and move back home to wait for the mechanic. The problem was when I tried to pump the air, the air cap was stuck. There was no one around except the skinny Banglashi pump attendant there staring at me.
.
I asked him to help me jacked up my car to open the cap, I didn't think he could change a tyre and he's too small size to do such heavy job even if he knows. See, I have made a wrong judgement again. The Bangleshi guy told me, 'RM10.00' and he would changed the tyre for me. You? I asked. Yes. He said.
.
'OKI, no problem.' I told him, ' make sure you know how to change it, and don't spoilt my car'. 'OKI' he said.
.
Got the tyre changed and I paid the attendant RM10.00.
.
Reached home just in time for the Korean Drama and my TV breakfast.
.
Had an orange, an apple, a piece of chocolate walnut cake and 1/2 cup of coffee as my TV breakfast.
.

I know, I know, some of you might want to say it's not healthy to eat and watch TV at the same time! What to do when my eyes, brain and stomach were all feeling hungry at the same time!

A Hainam Nang Speaks to A Hokkien Lang In English

Malaysian Chinese are good at languages and dialects. Most of us speak English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and dialects like Hokkien, Cantonese, Hainanese, Teochew etc...... Even if we don't speak other dialects we could understand roughly what other trying to say.

I remember a joke told by my friend about an experience her Hainanese mother encountered. It happened many years ago.

One day her mother went to a shop in Port Dickson to buy a badminton racket for her. She told her mother she wanted the brand "Blue Bird", in English. The mother not knowing what is the meaning of 'Blue Bird' told the shopkeeper the same thing the daughter told her.

The Hokkien shopkeeper who unable to speak english and hainanese, asked her twice in Hokkien : "Lam Chiau Piau"? (Blue Bird brand?). He was trying to reconfirm with her what she actually wanted.

'Lam chiau' means 'blue bird' but it sounds close to the word penis in hokkien and I think may be in hainanese dialect also.

The mother was very angry with the shopkeeper and scolded him for being rude to her before she left the shop angrily. She was still angry when she reached home and told the daughter what had happened. The daughter told her the actual meaning of 'Blue Bird' and they were laughing away.

Bongkang....

Happy Independence Day everyone!!!

Indian Rojak

This is Rojak. Indian Rojak. The famous Indian Rojak from Subang Jaya. As nice as the Rojak at my home town in Telok Kemang when I was young.
.
This is the only Indian Rojak that i really eat and eat and never get fed up of it. Don't tell me about other rojak. I've been conned (LOL not so serious la!) into trying at so many places but none can compare to this one.
.
The most important thing is the sauce. Really yummy.
The cucumber and the turnip are freshly shredded, very fresh.
All those fried things I don't know what to call it, very nice.
and the freshly fried toufu.
.
You can add hard boiled egg or cuttlefish, but I prefer it plain.
.
I usually eat there because next to it there is a Cendul stall. Cendul when buy back home wont be nice anymore, so have to eat there. But today I bought it back because the Cendul stall is not there. So buy back and eat at the comfort of my home.
.
When I first spotted this Rojak stall, there were a long line of people waiting and eating under the trees with birds and crows above. I was hesitating to eat there. But because it's very yummy, I sometime can drive there alone and join in the crowd.
.
Today I waited for more than 1/2 hours to get this plate of yummy Rojak for my tea time.
.
Oh one advice for those who wants to eat there. Make sure you don't look else where while eating. Stare at your plate until you finished all, otherwise the birds and crows may add some droppings in. HA HA HA HA HA
